Pete, as he was known to family and friends, was born in Independence, Missouri, the youngest of 3 boys, to Herbert and Gladys Hanebaum.

He went to college at the University of Missouri - Kansas City, and enjoyed a long career in sales at Bendix Corporation and TRW.

He and his wife of 59 years, Ramona, raised their 3 children - Mike, Mary Kay and Linda in Ogallala, Nebraska, where they made life long friends with many of the families they met there. In 1984, the couple made the move to Atlanta, GA, and settled in Sandy Springs.

Pete was an avid tennis player and played weekly until his early 80s. He always enjoyed watching the U.S. Open, Wimbledon and the French Open each year, and hated to miss his twice a week tennis matches at the Abernathy tennis center.

He was a family man at heart and there was nothing he loved more than being at home with family and friends. Their homes, in both Nebraska and Georgia, served as gathering spots for many impromptu get-togethers, Fourth of July parties, and wonderful holiday celebrations.

Pete passed away peacefully at his favorite place to be - his home - with family surrounding him.

He was a much loved husband, father, and friend to many, and he will be missed. His family knows he is now at peace and reunited with all of his loved ones that have gone before him.

Services will be held at 11AM Friday, January 12th at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church 7171 Glenridge Drive Atlanta, Georgia 30328.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that a donation to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Foundation be considered.
